Punctuality is a reflection on your commitment to the job and sets the tone for your work ethic. Arriving early is a characteristic of an employees that “leads” rather than follows; an important factor when considering an employee for salary increases and promotions. Tardiness, no matter how minimal, draws the wrong kind of attention, and will affect the productivity of your team. Arrive on time; that means 10 minutes prior to the start time!

It so easy to leave a good impression, just by coming in for an interview professionally dressed. It is important to remember your first impression is a lasting impression. I have seen potential candidates come into my office dressed as if they were going to the beach or to a night club. I always advise all applicants prior to coming into my office to dress professionally. So if someone arrives to interview with me dressed inappropriately I will not continue the interview process. This tells me this is the way they would show up for an interview with my client. Always remember to DRESS THE PART. For additional interviewing tips please visit us at TransHiregroup.com.

It is always refreshing to pick someone up when they are down. I interviewed a young lady a few weeks ago and after the interview she thanked me for being so nice to her. She explained that she had just recently lost her father and had thoughts of cancelling the interview because she felt that she was not ready to get back in the workforce. She told me that the way I treated her let her know she could move forward not only in her job search but move forward in general. I was touched by her telling me this and it made me take a look at myself and remember that a simple smile or act of kindness no matter where you are can go a long way especially in the workplace.
