Celebrate National Staffing Employee Week!
This week (September 18th - 24th) is the American Staffing Association’s National Staffing Employee Week. It celebrates the importance of America’s staffing workforce—the temporary and contract workers that make up a large part of the population vital to the economy! This week is a wonderful time to recognize their contributions.
Did you know that around 32% of an average company’s workforce is contingent or contract based and about 76% of temporary employees are working full-time? Thank goodness for the contributions of temps that help these companies run smoothly!
In 2016, 14.5 million people were employed by a staffing company. An average of 3.2 million temporary employees worked each week with an average tenure of 11.5 weeks. The average annual earnings were $36,300 per worker and the temp and contract staffing sales were over $128 billion.
In the state of Florida, 652,100 workers were employed by staffing agencies last year. There was an average of 144,300 temps working each week. The average annual earnings were slightly higher than the national average at $37,000 per worker and the average annual sales were $8.1 billion.
Here at TransHire, we’ve been building a stronger workforce since 1984 with more than 3,500 businesses and over 31,000 placements of talented employees. We would like to join other staffing firms across the country to say thank you and to recognize our temp and contract employees for their dedication and hard work. We would also like to thank our clients for allowing us to get them the talent they need!
If you have temp employees at your company, thank them this week! You could include a note or card with their paycheck or timecard or even host a special lunch or dessert in the breakroom. If you want to do even more, a team building event like a fun game or friendly competition can bring people together. This can be a great way to welcome new temps, too!
How are you celebrating National Staffing Employee Week? If you have some interesting ideas, share them! And to all the temp and contract employees, thank you! Have a great week!
